Vienna's 3 Best Techno Clubs [2022]

As I progress in age and wisdom I continously try to improve the quality of my friday night excesses. On this ongoing journey towards the olymp of having good nights out, I want to pause and reflect for a bit to award three special venues with my personal "Best in Town" seal. Without further blah, here they are:
Grelle Forelle
The undoubted and undefeated GOAT of vienna's nightclubs. No place as dark and glaring ("grell") at the same time. No place to fly through a night like this. No place to feel welcome and save but still on an absurd, incredible adventure as in The Fish.

The Grelle Forelle attracts a highly motivated audience, booking both, international Techno apostles (Enrico Sangiuliano et al.) and local heroes. Not even the urban legend of the guy shitting on the bathroom floor could push the club off its well deserved place on the throne.
A must for every Rave-tourist.

Praterstrasse
You might think you're at the wrong address entering the office entrance hall, but once you proceed to the dancefloor, you know you are right. Because Praterstrasse is every audiophiles wet dream. The sound is loud and juicy.
Do not despair if there's not much going on early on in the night. The regular guests, stylish techno enthusiasts, come late. The artists are highly valued, so the venue can rightfully claim to be a place "foremost dedicated to music and dancing".
Praterstrasse | PRST is chic and cool and delivers quality electronic music. And their online presence is pretty neat as well ✨. I like.
Volksgarten
All you ravers are gonna hate me for this one but idc 🙃. I know it's not a real techno club. I know many guests ostentatiously display their bombastic egos (and daddy's income). I know, I know… But are you gonna have a good night out with your friends in 'Voga' ? Pretty damn sure.
Volksgarten is the common denominator you can count on when your group's taste in music and style is too diverse to visit one of the above. And there's something weirdly wonderful about you and your friends getting hammered in the very core of the republic between pretty-boys blowing their brains out on the toilet and David Alaba chilling in the VIP. So don't take yourself too seriously and enjoy the night.
